Niwot, CO Homes for Sale
About Niwot
The town of Niwot was established in 1875 as an agricultural town with direct access to the 'then' recently expanded Colorado Central Railroad, which enabled the distribution of local crops and resources north into Wyoming and South into Denver. Niwot is named after the local Arapaho Chief Niwot, most known for his diplomatic interactions with gold prospectors that flooded the area in the mid to late 1800's. Today, approximately 5,000 residents live in this suburb of Boulder (to the SW) and Longmont (to the NE). Niwot is described as a small town with a big heart, great schools, and room to roam. This charming town has an Old Town district lined with delicious restaurants, coffee shops, and local retail shops. Locals love to visit Niwot for their annual fall festival known as the Great Pumpkin Party complete with trick or treating and a petting zoo, their annual Winter Holiday Parade, and 4th of July Parade and activities.
